DESCRIPTION:Please join us in the Schneider Hall Galleries for the opening
 of A House that Watches Back on Thursday May 7, 2026 from 4 - 6 p.m.\n\nA
House that Watches Back examines the suburban home as both a place of refu
ge and a mechanism of control. Once conceived as a peripheral escape from
urban congestion, the suburban ideal has become haunted by the “good lif
e” fantasies of Americana. Rooted in promises of ownership and autonomy,
it persists as a system fractured by spatial politics, social engineering
, and economic control. Featuring photographic and visual artwork from loc
al and nationally recognized artists, each approaches the home through a h
auntological lens, reading domestic space as a charged site where memory,
power, and ideology linger, repeat, and refuse resolution.\n\nThis exhibit
ion is curated by Hite Critical and Curatorial Graduate Sttudent Jacob Gra
nt. This event is free and open to the public, please join us!
