SUMMARY:LouABLE Fest

DESCRIPTION:On behalf of the University of Louisville Office of Health Equi
ty and Engagement and the Commission on Disability and Accessibility, we a
re excited to invite you to the inaugural LouABLE Fest 2026! \n\n LouABLE
Fest will bridge the gap between academic health science, policy, the liv
ed experience of disability and accessibility, community realities and edu
cation practice. In 2025 Dean Bumpous, EVPHA instituted the U of L Health
Science Center - Commission on Disability and Accessibility (CoDA) to unde
rstand the realities experienced by disabled students, faculty, and staff.
CoDA’s goal was to catalog and build upon efforts that already exist fo
r inclusion and belonging, as well as identify gaps in institutional knowl
edge and practice. Led by Commission members and partners, we are excited
to be ABLE to offer this experience to the HSC community.\n\n At this liv
ely and deeply interactive inaugural event the Health Science Center, alon
g with community partners, will gather to challenge ourselves to think in
new ways about disability and accessibility and invite deeper understandin
gs across schools, professions, individuals and communities.  The event w
ill also serve as a data gathering event for a creative mapping and resear
ch initiative. Finally, there will be mini-lectures and workshops that are
related to accessibility, technological tools, and the frontiers of acces
sibility to provoke us to consider what else we might be ABLE to do.
