DESCRIPTION:Set against the backdrop of political and economic collapse, Za
 fari follows a family struggling to preserve dignity and hope amid growing
  scarcity and uncertainty. Blending realism with allegorical elements, the
  film offers a powerful reflection on survival, social fragmentation, and 
 the psychological impact of crisis. Director Mariana Rondón crafts an uns
 ettling portrait of a society pushed to its limits.\n\n\nThe Department of
  Classical and Modern Languages and the Latin American and Latino Studies 
 Program, College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Louisville, pro
 udly announce the 33rd edition of the “Reel” Latin America(n) Film Fes
 tival, a celebration that has brought the voices of Spanish and Latin Amer
 ican cinema to our community for more than three decades.\n\n\n\nThe festi
 val’s title, “Reel,” plays on both the material history of film reel
 s and the presentation of real stories—authentic narratives that reveal 
 the resilience, struggles, and aspirations of communities across Latin Ame
 rica and Spain. The 33rd edition brings five new features spanning Brazil,
  Spain, the United States, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela, continui
 ng the festival’s commitment to exploring shared cultural questions acro
 ss the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world.
