DESCRIPTION:ASCO: Without Permission is a genre-defying documentary about t
 he groundbreaking Chicano art collective ASCO, whose members transformed t
 he cultural landscape of Los Angeles during the 1970s and 1980s. Blending 
 activism, performance, photography, film, and visual art, ASCO challenged 
 exclusion within museums, Hollywood, and mainstream media. Through an inno
 vative mix of documentary and fiction, the film reexamines the group’s e
 nduring influence on contemporary art and culture. \n\n\nThe Department o
 f Classical and Modern Languages and the Latin American and Latino Studies
  Program, College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Louisville, pr
 oudly announce the 33rd edition of the “Reel” Latin America(n) Film Fe
 stival, a celebration that has brought the voices of Spanish and Latin Ame
 rican cinema to our community for more than three decades.\n\n\n\nThe fest
 ival’s title, “Reel,” plays on both the material history of film ree
 ls and the presentation of real stories—authentic narratives that reveal
  the resilience, struggles, and aspirations of communities across Latin Am
 erica and Spain. The 33rd edition brings five new features spanning Brazil
 , Spain, the United States, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela, continu
 ing the festival’s commitment to exploring shared cultural questions acr
 oss the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world.
